[quote:468d164f15]Lovers,
I've been away.
I've been working very hard on a new album. It's coming together very nicely and I would say that's it's at least two-thirds done. I recorded out in the city where I got my start, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Along with my old partners in crime, Charles and Graeme, we hammered out between 20 and 30 songs and brought them to varying degrees of completion.
The approach on this album has been very different so far. My eyes were opened to a lot of important ideas when I made the Dirtbike stuff and those ideas have gone into this record. So, what can I tell you?
Well, a big key for me on this record is melody. But this is an area in music where I don't have a lot of gifts. So it's an area where I have taken on a lot of help. There's quite a bit of co-writing happening on the record and you will hear a lot of different voices. I wish so badly that I could sing, but I can't. It's so bad, it even sounds horrible with the help of auto-tune. Luckily for me, I know a lot of great singers and so, I can tell you that I made a lot of calls before I went to work on this one. I had a long wish-list. They didn't all work out, but most of them did. However, working with a bunch of singers, I didn't want to just do the usual, formulaic rapper-singer collaboration. We tried some very different approaches and I'm very excited with the results so far. I can't wait for you to hear.
I also wanted to resist being seduced by darkness so much on this record. I'm always being told that my stuff is 'so dark' and this time I wanted to fight that a little. As well, I wanted to make sure there was more up-tempo stuff this time around. I think there's still lots of atmosphere and moodiness on the record, but it's not a total gloom-fest.
I've only played the material I have for a few people so far, but everyone who has heard it so far has really freaked out about one song in particular. It's one of the few in the bunch that doesn't have a guest vocalist on it, actually.
The hardest thing at this point will be cutting it down from 20-30 songs to 12. That's going to be agony. My A&R guy mentioned the idea of a double album, but that's not going to happen. Having said that, I'm sure all the material will see the light of day in one way or another eventually.
I have a half dozen or so ideas for a title for the album. So far, I'm having a hard time deciding. I may look for your help on that. The other day I thought it would be funny to call it 'Tickled Pink', but that's so gross, it's not even funny.
I don't know when this record will be released. That hasn't been discussed yet at all. I would love to see it come out early in the new year because of a big potential touring opportunity that's been discussed, but we'll see about that.
I can also tell you that Joelle and I are working on new Bike For Three! material already. Plus, I'm working on a project with Buddy Peace. Also, I'd like to have another Dirtbike-type thing ready to go for around the same time as the release of this next album. So there's a lot on the go.
That's all I'll say for now. After I get caught up on all the business I've been neglecting for the last month-and-a-half, I'll update you on thoughts and books and movies and stuff.
I hope you are great.

Kuulostaa erittäin mielenkiintoiselta. Aivan käsittämätön työtahti Buckilla muuten.

Moni biisi on tuttu tänä vuonna tipahtaneilta eepeiltä, mutta pari uuttakin on mukana. Kuulostaa hemmetin hyvältä, paria pykälää Situtiatonia paremmalta. Pari todellista helmeä joukossa.

Unohtunut kokonaan kuunnella toi levy. Sen sijaan just nyt ihan tajuttomat Square-fiilistelyt. Jumalauta tää levy on timanttia. En oo kuunnellu juurikaan sitten 04/05 ja kylläpä pärisee lujaa.

Tekisipä Richard enemmänkin tämän tyyppisiä musiikkia ja jättäisi räpin ja muun vähemmälle. Täytyy myös nostaa tuon naisen suoritus molemmissa kappaleissa esiin. Kaunis ääni - ja mikä tärkeintä - laulaa kauniisti. Toivottavasti tekevät lisää asioita yhdessä.

Eilen oli synttärit, 40v, hattua päästä. Toi qdesin postaama biisi ei ihan lähteny itelle, mut tykkäsin siit muutamasta ep:stä muodostuneesta vuoden(?) takaisesta levystä, mut on vaan unohtunut kuunnella. Vois palailla. Tuli vaan mieleen kun kuuntelen tässä Squarea

Uusi Bike For Three! -albumi tulee ulos helmikuun 14. päivä. Kolmen maistiaisen ja samplerin perusteella pitäisi olla loistavaa tavaraa jälleen.
