For their forthcoming album, the Lemonheads have embraced the twin peaks of their career by going for a full-on covers album entitled VARSHONS. Butthole Surfer Gibby Haynes produces, and Gen X poster girls Liv Tyler and Kate Moss make vocal contributions. Here Liv and Ev take on "Hey, That' No Way To Say Goodbye," verses alternating between Dando's stately tenor and Liv's whispery bits, while Gibby fleshes out the far background with wind wooshes and flangey, didgeridooey guitars.

The Lemonheads' VARSHONS is out 6/23 via The End. The international release schedule for Varshons: June 12 - Australia and New Zealand June 15 - UK, Europe, Japan. Here's the rest of the tracklist:

While they have shared plenty of stages - it has never been quite like this. Expect the show to be filled with old songs from both artists, some new songs, some cover songs and, of course, amazing harmonies. In speaking of these upcoming shows Juliana shares "In the past when I worked with Evan it was always in a strictly auxiliary capacity - backup singing, bass playing - but now that we will be on equal footing I think we could do a lot of damage. I've always thought that Evan was an underrated songwriter.....his good looks and antiestablishment attitude have overshadowed his skills." And, Evan reminisces "Juliana and I first met and started playing music together when we were 19. Since then Juliana has only gotten better and better. Now it's like playing with someone I'm a huge fan of and totally revere."

On February 7, 2012, The Lemonheads will release Hotel Sessions on Hall of Records/Breath of Saltwater an intimate recording documenting a Sunday night that Evan Dando spent recording new songs with just an acoustic guitar (and some revealing commentary) in a hotel room in Bondi Beach, Australia. The 14 songs include some that never made it to an official Lemonheads album, but Dando says, the "Into Your Arms" I did here is better than the one on the album (I like it anyway).

Joo, kyllä mä oon kans ajatellut, että jos lippuja sais vielä ovelta niin vois mennä. Mitään ennakkovarauksia en viitti tehdä, kun meno riippuu seuralaisestakin aika pitkälti. (Eikä siellä nyt tuona aikana oikein tunnu muitakaan kiinnostavia keikkoja olevan. DJ Shadow'n keikalla olisin monta vuotta sitten kiimaillut, mutta enää ei vois vähempää sen keikka kiinnostaa.) Eihän tää missään nimessä huono bändi ole, mutta ei ole oikein koskaan innostanut suurempaan kuunteluun. Olihan se Dandon Tavastian keikka muistaakseni aika hyvä. Vai oonko keksinyt tän keikan päästä?

Indie-musiikin klassikoihin lukeutuva yhdysvaltalaisbändi The Lemonheads saapuu kahdelle keikalle Suomeen toukokuussa. Faneille on luvassa erikoisherkkua, sillä sooloartistinakin kunnostautuneen Evan Dandon luotsaama The Lemonheads soittaa keikoilla It´s a Shame About Ray -klassikkoalbuminsa kokonaisuudessaan. Lisäksi settiin on mahdutettu myös muita Lemonheads-biisejä bändin uran varrelta. Suomen-keikat toteutuvat Helsingin Tavastialla sunnuntaina 6. toukokuuta ja Tampereen Klubilla maanantaina 7. toukokuuta. Liput keikoille tulevat myyntiin tämän viikon torstaina 12. tammikuuta.
Evan Dandon vuonna 1986 perustama The Lemonheads teki läpimurtonsa vuonna 1992 ilmestyneellä It´s a Shame About Ray-albumillaan. Bändin viides pitkäsoitto sisältää kansainväliseksi hitiksi nousseen albumin nimikappaleen lisäksi mm. alunperin vain singlenä julkaistun coverin Mrs. Robinson -biisistä. Levyllä bändin punk-juuriin sekoittuvat saumattomasti country- ja popvaikutteet, jotka tiivistyvät timanttiseen 30 minuutin pituuteen.
Pitkän tauon jälkeen The Lemonheads kiertää jälleen aktiivisesti ympäri maailmaa. Bändi julkaisi hiljattain kokoelmalevyn Laughing All the Way to the Cleaners sekä akustisista c-kasettinauhoituksista kootun Hotel Sessions -albumin.

Hello you !! The record you hold in your hands ( or clicked on with your mouse ) represents the fulfillment of a little dream I had a long time ago, or for a long time . Or is it a long dream I had a long time ago for a short while - or was it a big dream I've had for a long time . Well , anyway I've always wanted to make ! an " Album " for 53 dollars - Walkman 50 , tape 3 bucks . Oh to record live to cassette , master it and put it out ... I have finally done it ! I recorded this here biscuit in and around either December '92, or Feb '93 . I remember it was a sunday night in Bondi - the night the "Car Enthusiasts come out . I had just returned to Australia - my home away from home- from our first Japanese tour . Life was good . I made this tape for our Aussie agent of that time , Stephen Pavlovic . I am forever grateful to this man for introducing me to Australia and a grand gang of australians! This LP documents a lovely lull in the action. a Sunday night into morning to collect myself and my songs . The songs that would be on our next album . some of these never made it and the "Into Your Arms " I did here is better than the one on the album ( i like it anyway ) So sit back, snort some no doze and listen for the tunes, the sea ,the tape hiss (! ahhh ) , the cars , the birds the trucks , and the killer motorcycle at the end of being around !! levyhän on siis jossain hotellissa dandon halvalla mankalla lo-fi-äänityksenä vedetty come on feel the lemonheadsia edeltävä demokokoelma, mutta kyllä homma toimii. erityisesti aiemmin hieman täyteraidan oloinen you can take it with you osoittautuu tuolla aivan loistobiisiksi, vaikka se onkin jostain syystä kahdessa osassa sillee jännästi. hieno levy, mutta suosittelen silti vain tosifaneille ja kompletisteille
