Get to Know: Jimmy Astro; Interview w/ FUEGO
Enter Jimmy Astro, a Wisconsin born, Memphis raised artist who is aiming for the proverbial throne. With two bodies of work under his belt, Jimmy has been steady making a name not only for himself but his crews, 5thFlo and Flight Crew. I first took note of Astro when his manager and fellow Hypebeast Forum member, Bruhman, reached out to me to write a bio about him and his new project at the time, Jimmy, and since then I have been following dudes career like Twitter. Wow that was a horrible simile, so let me finish and introduce the man, the producer, the rapper, Jimmy Astro.
First off, introduce yourself for those who may not know who Jimmy Astro is?
If I could describe that nigga Jimmy Astro, hes a fuckin genius. Hes what the games been missing. Honestly though, Im a pervert, racist, and an asshole. I just happen to make shit sound awesome as fuck together.

Outside of music, what are some of your other interests?
I love watching 80s movies, fashion, sex, and playing Madden. That shit gets the dick hard. Like honestly though, I dont plan on making music forever, so after as while Id love to transition into fashion and film.

In your hook for The Rhianna Song, you reference Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z. From your other lyrics, I can tell you also watch a fair share of cartoons/anime, what are some of your favorites?
Mane My shit generic as hell, but I love Neon Genesis Evangelion, Spongebob, Back at the Barnyard, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Trigun. Prolly some others but I dont care to think of em.

If you were to have a completely custom chain, what would you want on it and why?
Id probably get a chain with the word fag on it. People are so quick to judge based off what they see and often come to incorrect conclusions. Itd be purely for the irony.

If you could hang out with anyone for a day, dead or alive, famous or not, who would it be and why?
If I could hang with anyone, itd probably be this one dude I saw on a World Star Hip Hop video. He was the most evil nigga Ive ever witnessed via video. He was part of a security squad composed of hood niggas who love to fight. I honestly feel that if I could learn that dudes motives for the shit he did in the video, Id be able to figure anyone out.

Enough of getting to know you on a personal level, lets get to the artist side. How would you describe your music?
When it comes to my music, this is when I get serious as shit. I cant really describe my music. I know that sounds pretentious and douche-like, but I hate my music being compared or labeled outside of the term, good. If I were to describe it, itd be some cool sounding shit.

Apart from hip hop, do you listen to anything else and if so, would you say it inspires your music?
I listen to a lot of different electronic/alternative/pop music. I really love the synths and the melodies. Those rule my life. Its pretty evident I love synths, and that my production is really different.

It has been stated that you have been inspired by Wale, Kid Cudi, and Kanye. Outside of the music world, who, or what, has made you into the artist you are today?
I could probably quote two things as helping me develop. The first would be my brother. This nigga is probably the most influential person in my life. He just taught me everything I exude now. Second would have to be the book Frankenstein. That book teaches me something new every time I read it. I try to apply those lessons to my music.

Apart from your influences, who are some people you would like to collaborate with?
Wiz Khalifa, Nick Jonas, Roscoe Dash, Fat Trel, Cassidy, Styles P, 50 Cent, Curren$y, Imogen Heap, and Empire of the Sun.

Some rappers want to buy a Ferrari, travel the world, or quite possibly have sex with a massive amount of white women with their splendors, what will show you that you have made it?
What would signify Ive made it is sold out shows and people knowing all the words to my songs. That would make a nigga feel too legit and cool. Also, the ability to scissor kick would mean a lot as well. That shit would make me the coolest dude on Earth.

Your manager and the homie, Bruhman, let me peep your new collaborative EP with Reese Jones early and I have to say it is a banger. Other than that, what else should everybody be looking for?
I have my French Fries EP with all the production handled by me. Its hosted by Kidswastingtime.com. Also, I have my Leftovers compilation tape of random tracks. Lastly, in the future, I will start working on my follow up to Jimmy in that which is Conquistador.

Any closing comments youd like to give? Maybe some shoutouts?
