Third Reich 'n' Rollin takakannessahan on pieni kirjoitus "Why do the Residents hate the Beatles". Ja kannessa paljon hakaristejä ja Hitler porkkana kädessä. Ja levy on yhtä medleytä missä soittavat wanhoja jenkki-top40-hittejä vähän vinksin vonksin. Son hyvä.
Sit mulla on vielä toi "the residents practice japanese but no one knows" 7! jossa aapuolen Satisfaction-koveri on aika rankkaa rääkyhuutoa.

koskas joku mainitsee the commercial albumin?

Third Reich & Roll is a 1976 album by the U.S. avant-garde pop group The Residents. Their second (officially) released album, it is a parody of pop music and commercials from the 1960s. The work consists of two side-long pastiches of various songs from the period. The liner notes state that approximately 30 songs have been utilised. Some are obvious, while others are almost unrecognizable. It has been suggested that the following is the album's "true" track listing (none of these songs are listed on the album cover):
Swastikas on Parade:
1. Let's Twist Again (German version)
2. Monster Mash (opening noises only)
3. Land Of 1000 Dances
4. Hanky Panky
5. A Horse With No Name
6. Double Shot Of My Baby's Love[1]
7. The Letter
8. Psychotic Reaction
9. Hey, Little Girl
10. Papa's Got A Brand New Bag (German version)[2]
11. Talk Talk
12. I Want Candy
13. To Sir, With Love
14. Telstar
15. Wipe Out
16. Heroes And VillainsHitler Was A Vegetarian:
1. Judy In Disguise (With Glasses)
2. 96 Tears
3. It's My Party
4. Keem-O-Sabe
5. Nut Rocker
6. Light My Fire
7. Asia Minor
8. Ballad Of The Green Berets
9. Yummy Yummy Yummy
10. Rock Around The Clock[3]
11. Pushing Too Hard
12. Good Lovin'
13. Gloria
14. In A Gadda Da Vida
15. Sunshine Of Your Love
16. Hey Jude
17. Sympathy For The DevilSome of these songs are played simultaneously. America's "A Horse With No Name" is slightly newer than the rest of the hits on the album, but matches The Swinging Medallions' "Double Shot of my Baby's Love" exactly. The Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" is performed as the guitar solo to The Beatles' Hey Jude.
Better realized and executed than their first album, it also generated controversy due to its cover art which featured television entertainer Dick Clark in a Nazi uniform holding a carrot while surrounded by swastikas and pictures of a dancing Adolf Hitler in both male and female dress. A version was marketed in the 1980s for German consumption which heavily censored much of the cover art.
Rumor has it Dick Clark found the cover amusing, and has a framed copy in his office.
The album was originally released on Ralph Records.

The Beatles Play The Residents and The Residents Play the Beatles (1977) This is the common title of a single which has two tracks: Beyond the Valley of a Day in the Life and Flying. The first track -- aka "The Beatles Play The Residents" -- is a tape collage of excerpts from songs by The Beatles. The flip side of the single, "The Residents Play The Beatles", is a cover of Flying, which was chosen for the treatment because it was the only song the band could find which credits all four Beatles as composers. (vinyl)

Commercial album, mainio albumi.

Mulla on The Residents -ongelma. Kaveri soitti joskus vuosia sitten jonkun niiden levyn.

1. Are The Residents a band, or what?
A. I guess I would have to say a "what." The Residents write, record and perform music, so I suppose that kind of makes them a band. However, they think of themselves as a "group" which is not so directly music-orientated.
2. Who is in The Residents?
A. If the question is "what are the names the parents gave to the people making up The Residents," then I would say that those names belong to individuals and not the group. The group doesn't have names within its structure. If the question is the real "who," meaning the philosophy and outlook, then that is all clearly stated in the work. I would find it difficult to summarize.
3. Is it the same people now as the people who started the group?
A. It is exactly the same. However they work with other people all the time and those people may be considered "Residents" for the period of the project or projects. I understand that the number of people who have been in The Residents is probably over a hundred at this point and still growing.
4. How does one get to work with The Residents?
A. It generally is a result of The Residents asking you to participate, or a recommendation to fill a needed role.
5. Why are the people who do The Residents obsessed with being anonymous?
A. They aren't. It is other people who seem to be uncomfortable with their privacy. Say you have a tank of goldfish. Say you have given each goldfish a name. A stranger wanders into your house and sees your tank of goldfish and wants to know who they are. Considering that he is a stranger, you tell him it is a tank of goldfish.
6. Why not just make up fake names, then? Who would know the difference?
A. Most people in show biz have made up names. That is true. The Residents reveal more about who they are by using no name than people who use fake names. But as you can see it is others, like you, who keep asking about names as though that matters somehow.
7. It is common knowledge that The Residents recorded early albums that have never been released. Why don't they release that material?
A. Like any artist, there is early work. But in this particular situation, the first actual release by The Residents was 1974's Meet The Residents. Anything earlier, including Santa Dog, was not by The Residents. But I know what you mean. There are recordings by the people who later became The Residents. Some older recordings were stolen from their studio, mostly unfinished experimental recordings. Also, a demo of material that was sent to Warner Brothers was taken. Most of the recordings were not touched and a lot of the old stuff has been discarded by The Residents at this point. They prefer to not release recordings that they feel do not represent them. This is true for all artists, not just The Residents.

enpä tiennytkään että residentsit on nykyään paljastanut tyyppien nimiä ja pääjehu on just tehnyt soololevyn "codgers on the moon"
Charles "Chuck" Bobuck is the primary composer and arranger for The Residents.
Charles "Chuck" Bobuck has been composing and arranging music for the Residents for more than 40 years under the protective veil of The Residents invisibility. In some ways, The Residents of the original dogma only lasted about ten years, from the early 1970's to the early 1980's. Like the monster from Alien, The Residents evolved and changed after that. Each incarnation has been able to give birth to a new definition of The Residents, and therefore a new series of artistic statements. These changes have given us projects like CUBE E, Bad Day on the Midway, and The Bunny Boy webisodes that could never have existed under the strict rules of the original manifesto.
It has happened again. While we peacefully slept, The Residents have molted.
A magician likes to appear as though he is doing nothing. It is the magic that is cool. Penn and Teller have always performed a classic "magic" trick involving cups and balls. P&T replaced the normally opaque cups with clear ones. There is no such thing as magic, only the amazing skill of the humans who make it appear they are doing nothing, while actually doing everything. The addition of the human only makes the cups and balls trick more magical and enjoyable.
The same with The Residents. There is no magic. In this era, releasing recordings is not enough. Multifaceted projects became the norm a few years ago, and now that too is no longer enough. What has emerged is a major upheaval in Residents personification. Randy, Chuck & Bob.
Randy Rose's relocating to Hollywood is not a matter of leaving The Residents, but to extend its reach. Maurice & me, Randy's excellent blog, is designed to use his adventures as a storytelling device for our enjoyment. It is a personalization of Roger's fictional Bunny experience (The Bunny Boy web series), only it is happening in real life and real time, and we get to go along with him. Randy may perform his Sam's Enchanted Evening, and it stands as a worthy work, but it exists to provide content for the story telling. It becomes a modern form of a play-within-a-play. The bigger art is the adventures of Randy who does art within this bigger framework.
Following Randy's outing is Charles Bobuck. Yes, Chuck has a new album, Codgers on the Moon. We are being tricked once again into thinking that the CD is the art, that it is the music that counts. We have a hard time breaking our long-established thought patterns. But no. What you are starting to read now is the bigger art that embraces the music. The music is the cup and balls. This web site is the magician using transparent cups, and the reveal turns out to be the best trick of all.
Read his web site, listen to his music. Remember, we are all very deep within an illusion, and the bread crumbs we dropped have long since been eaten by crows.
