En mä kyllä edes muista tota. Siellä oli se teltta ja sit isompi lava. Mummielestä siel oli vuotta myöhemmin sama meininki. Muullon en ole käynytkään.

Ride are the latest band to hit the reunion trail, following the recent reformations of other indie icons the Jesus and Mary Chain.

Ride fronted by Andy Bell and Mark Gardener were at the forefront of the shoegazing scene until the band's disintegration in 1996.

Members of the group have pursued various musical pursuits since the band's split, most notably Andy Bell who formed the short-lived Hurricane#1, and then went on to become a permanant bassist for Oasis.

Mark Gardner has also toured extensivley as a solo artist, whilst drummer Laurence Colbert has been drumming with the newly reformed Jesus and Mary Chain.

Ride are tipped to play the North By Northeast Music and Film Festival in Toronto, Canada. The festival takes place June 7-10.

There is no word yet whether Ride will play any UK dates, though a live DVD is being planned for release soon.

Jotain on loksahdellut taas aivoissa kohdalleen tässä välissä eli kyllä tietenkin just näin kuten te sanoitte. Sillo ku Sugar jne. oli vaan kaks lavaa, sillon ku NOFX, Therapy?, Black Sabbath ja CMX niin kolme lavaa. Se iso lava oli siis teltan ja saarilavan välissä, muistelisin?

Nowhere mullakin edelleen ainoa levy, jota oon aktiivisesti kuunnellut. Muu tuotanto semmosta harmaata aluetta, ettei oikein muista tai osaa sanoa oliko hyvää vai kehnoa.

Mä en oo varmaan kuullu Nowheree ku kerran. Pitäis joskus jaksaa kokkeilla, toki Dreams Burn Down vaimikä on hyvä biisi...Sen sijaan Going Blank Againilla on monta rakasta rallia (ja pari vähän turhempaa tai tylsempää).

No jotain taidejuttua käsittelevä uutinen ykkösellä, Drive Blindin jälkeen soi jotain Bluria ja puhuttiin siitä tyypistä joka on tehnyt Best of Blurin kannen. Tuskinpa Ridellä mitään yhteyttä tuohon koko hommaan oli, jollain uutistoimituksessa on varmaan vain hyvä maku.

Nyt musanörteillään..

Youtubesta löysin sattumalta varhaisen Ride coverin Blondien Union City Bluesista. Löytyy täältä. Ihan kelpo versio, tosin ei tuosta paljoa Rideä tunnista. Laulajana toimii muuten Motorcycle Boyn Alex Taylor, joka oli myös Shop Assistantsin jäsen. Kaikkea sitä oppii.

Niin siis sitä piti kysymäni, että tuo coveri löytyy Motorcycle Ride-nimiseltä seiskalta, jonka b-puolelta löytyy niin ikään Blondieta ja Atomic, niin olisiko joku mahdollisesti sattunut tuon joskus kuulemaan? HALUAN KUULLA SEN NYT!! itku Oon muodostanut tän mielessäni jo parhaimmaksi biisiksi ikinä.

Nyt tulee dvd! Going Blank Againin 20-vuotisjuhlaversion bonuslevynä. Panin jo tilaten, vaikka hinta onkin vähän suolainen, posteineen taisi olla £23. Mutta tuota dvd:llistä julkaisua ei tule kauppoihin lainkaan myyntiin.

Bändi on saanut oikeudet back-katalogiinsa ja tulossa taisi olla reissuet kaikista albumeista Smilea myöten. Bändi on kai tuon tiimoilta kokoontunut sitten, eivät taida siis ainakaan pahoissa riidoissa olla. Ehkä tästä saadaan vielä reunion. dance

It's time for some actual news...
We had hoped to be making a double announcement as we've been brewing up a number of plans over the past 6 months due to the fact that the recording and publishing rights for the Ride catalogue have now reverted back to us after the licensing deals we did with, respectively, Ignition Records and Damaged Pop Music back in 2001 came to their natural end. We'd like to thank both Ignition and Damaged Pop for lovingly looking after the catalogue throughout this period. We never thought back then that the interest in Ride would grow in the way it has, and to satisfy this interest it has been vitally important having all the catalogue albums constantly available.
The news that we're not ready to announce (if you see what we mean) is that the Ride website is being fully redesigned and relaunched. The current site has been stuck in 2001 for, well, 11 years now and so this revamp is long overdue. So we will be back in a few weeks time, all being well, to tell you all about that.
As the rights to the catalogue are controlled directly by us, we have been working on a series of CD reissues for all the main catalogue albums, namely: Smile, Nowhere, Going Blank Again, Carnival of Light, Tarantula and OX4_The Best Of. The tracklistings are the same as the Ignition releases that have been available for the past 10 years but these reissues (on our own label, RideMusic) will be packaged in cardboard softpacks and will be available in stores from the end of May 2012. They will, of course, be available to buy on the new Ride website once it has gone live.

In the previous newsletter, we had hinted that the planned date of this newsletter (27/03/12) had some significance. And it has... 27th March 2012 was the 20th anniversary of the Brixton Academy show that was recorded and released on VHS across the world (and Laserdisc in Japan) back in 1992.
When the band met up last September to discuss a number of things, one of the items that was high up on the priority list was how we would mark the 20th anniversary of Going Blank Again.
The Nowhere 20th Anniversary Edition was a great addition to the band's canon - with the Roxy LA live CD being a worthy companion to the expanded Nowhere CD itself - that we felt we should go one step further for GBA20.
After quite a lengthy stint of detective work, we managed to track down the original digital master tape of the Brixton live show. And it looks great! So we asked Catherine Marks and John Catlin at Alan Moulder's studio to mix the audio afresh from the 2" master tapes of the gig. Catherine had worked under Alan's watchful eye on the Roxy LA mixes and so we were really happy that she could find time to mix and edit the Brixton audio. Needless to say, it sounds truly wonderful and we're really pleased to now finally have a Ride release on DVD.
So GBA20 will have the regular 14-track Going Blank Again CD as the first disc and the Brixton DVD as the second disc. They will be packaged in a hardback cardboard case with a canvas-style cover and a 36 page booklet full of unseen photos and new sleeve notes written by Joe Clay from The Times, drawn from interviews with all of the band and Alan Moulder.
GBA20 will not be available in stores and will only be sold directly from OxfordMusic.Net and, in due course, the new Ride website.
The first 2000 copies of this 20th Anniversary Edition will be numbered and 50 of these 2000 will be randomly selected to be signed by all four members of the band. Also, these first 2000 numbered copies are available for you to pre-order for just £20 each. After the pre-sale has finished or when these first 2000 have sold, the price will rise to £24. We anticipate that GBA20 will be ready to ship at the end of May.
Everyone who pre-orders a copy of GBA20 will get a free WAV or MP3 (320kbps) download of all the live tracks on the Brixton DVD so that you can enjoy the full sonic hi-fi delights of the show. These will be available to download when the copies of GBA20 are ready to ship.

jännä juttu, tänään just lisäilin biisejä kännykkään, ja arvoin että lisäänkö vapour trailin kun kerran olin sen jo ripannut, mutta popen fb-päivityksen innoittamana lisäsin

silti olen sitä mieltä, että riden laulaja on vähän turhan nössön kuuloinen, eikä tää nyt muutenkaan ihan ygösluokkaa ole näissä kenkiintuijottelujutuissa
